Can't wait wednesday: The fountains of silence by Ruta Sepetys.

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings, to talk about the books we are most exiting about. Generally they're books that have yet to be released. It's based on Waiting on Wednesday, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine

This week I choose "The fountains of silence" by Ruta Sepetys. I'm a huge history fiction girl and I have never read a book by Ruta Sepetys before. I can't wait to read about Spain in 1957, the Spanish civil war and about Ana and Daniel.

The Fountains of Silence
Expected publication: October 1st 2019

Madrid, 1957. Under the fascist dictatorship of General Francisco Franco, Spain is hiding a dark secret. Meanwhile, tourists and foreign businessmen flood into Spain under the welcoming guise of sunshine and wine. Among them is eighteen-year-old Daniel Matheson, the son of a Texas oil tycoon, who arrives in Madrid with his parents hoping to connect with the country of his mother's birth through the lens of his camera. Photography and fate introduce him to Ana, whose family's interweaving obstacles reveal the lingering grasp of the Spanish Civil War, as well as chilling definitions of fortune and fear. Daniel's photographs leave him with uncomfortable questions amidst shadows of danger. He is backed into a corner of decisions to protect those he loves. Lives and hearts collide, revealing an incredibly dark side to the sunny Spanish city.

  1. Hi! I must admit it is quite a different period in time to read about, and one that I am not that familiar with - I think I'd enjoy this too!

Here's my Wednesday post. Happy Hump Day!

    1. Hello:-) I'm not that familiar with the time period either, so I'm very interesting to learn more about it. I read a lot about the 40's but not the 50's. Thanks for your comment!
